There is this song on the radio, and it repeats over and over again “He loves me just the way I am” — It is quite annoying.
“God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Amen! But He isn’t satisfied with us as we are. He hates sin! Look around (or inside), look at the mess it has made… at how ignorantly and spitefully we’ve been disobedient to Dad.
Jesus came into the world to save sinners–to take away the sins of the world–to destroy the works of the devil (primarily in me) If not there already, the goal ahead is blamelessness, holiness, and purity.
Just some verses to think over (all quite possible through death of self and cleansing in His blood):
“Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish.” Ephesians 5:25–27
“And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, so that you may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God. ” Philippians 1:9–11
“Do all things without grumbling or questioning, that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, holding fast to the word of life, so that in the day of Christ I may be proud that I did not run in vain or labor in vain” Philippians 2:14–16
“And you, who once were alienated and hostile in mind, doing evil deeds, he has now reconciled in his body of flesh by his death, in order to present you holy and blameless and above reproach before him, if indeed you continue in the faith, stable and steadfast, not shifting from the hope of the gospel that you heard” Colossians 1:21–23
“Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” 1 Thessalonians 5:23
“Now to him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of his glory with great joy…” Jude 1:24

Amen brother! All of those are amazing verses of promise and hope, testaments to God’s saving mercies and grace.…I especially like the Philippians 2:14–16 passage.….we tend to despair because we think our generation is so hard and terrible compared to the ones that have come before.…but the fact is that Paul’s generation was just as crooked and twisted as ours is.…age to age God remains the same and so does our calling as Christians, his children.….
